An NHS whistleblower has claimed that the A&E crisis is being made worse because highly trained NHS paramedics across the country are being poached by Atos and Capita to do assessments for personal independence payment (PIP), instead of saving lives.

Paramedic shortage
There is a severe shortage of paramedics throughout the UK, but Hampshire – where our whistleblower works – has a particularly acute problem. South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS)had over 250 vacancies for paramedics in November of this year.

Our whistleblower claimed that the situation was being made even worse because experienced paramedics are leaving to take up full time posts with Atos, who carry out PIP assessments in the region.

Paramedics in the NHS usually have to train to degree level, yet salaries range from just £21,478 to £27,901 for the most experienced paramedics. In addition, the job involves a good deal of shift work and unsocial hours.

Atos, on the other hand, offer paramedics who join them as full-time PIP assessors a salary of £32,000 plus private medical insurance, life assurance, income protection insurance and no unsocial hours.

It is hardly surprising if paramedics choose to make the move to Atos, or to Capita who offer a very similar package.

The effects of the paramedic shortage can be seen on a daily basis. Just this week an injured cyclist was left lying on the pavement for more than two hours in central London whilst waiting for paramedics to arrive.

The paramedic shortage is also taking desperately needed cash from the NHS. In Hampshire 16% of paramedic cover is currently provided by much more expensive private companies while health trusts around the UK are having to advertise abroad to try to attract paramedics to the UK.

Paramedics are also vital for reducing pressure on A&E departments by providing effective treatment on the spot. In many cases this reduces the amount of time spent on patients when they arrive at A&E or removes the need for a visit altogether.

Dismissal for speaking out
The SCAS employee who contacted us about the crisis was afraid to speak out publically because staff have received an email this week warning them that telling outsiders about problems in SCAS, especially online, could lead to dismissal. The email threatened:

“Everything you say online is subject to the same disciplinary procedure that covers your conduct in the real world. There have been disciplinary hearings that have resulted in staff being dismissed for breaches to the SCAS Code of Conduct.

“Don’t let this happen to you!

“We value our staff and it is important that when staff and the organisation are feeling the pressure, that we try and provide the appropriate support through internal and external means rather than airing frustrations that may damage public confidence.

“If you have any concerns, queries or want to ask us about this please do contact us. In the meantime for more information go to:

“The SCAS Discipline & Conduct Policy & Procedure”

We contacted SCAS and asked them how many staff have left to work for Atos or Capita in the last six months. A spokesperson told us:

“South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust are unable to advise on the numbers of staff who have left the organisation to join the organisations you have named. Unless staff are leaving to join another NHS Trust, they are not obliged to inform us of the name of their new employer.”

SCAS also denied that the recent email to staff was related to concerns about paramedics leaving to join the private sector.

Cash before lives
Atos and Capita have not even begun the massive task of assessing millions of existing disability living allowance claimants for PIP as part of the Coalition’s effort to reduce benefits spending. When they do, they will need to take on hundreds more assessors. How many of these will be poached from the NHS?

The crisis in paramedic numbers is not new, it has been growing since 2010. There would have been nothing to prevent the DWP stipulating in the PIP contracts for Atos and Capita that they did not recruit paramedics. There would be nothing to stop them doing so now.

The fact that they don’t reinforces the impression that, for the DWP, saving cash is always more important than saving lives.

As many of us are aware, our Government has been writing and rewriting policy and laws, much going on behind closed doors which is directly affecting our liberty and freedom.  Many of us are also aware that ours is not the only country who has a government who appear to be working not for the people but against them.

We are aware of the divide and rule propaganda and tactics being used to create fear and hatred amonsts us.  But are we also aware that much of this is not only about impoverishing us and making us fearful, but a diversionary tactic being used in order to covertly bring about the global policy of Agenda 21.

It all may sound a bit 1984 ish to some, a bit like conspiracy and fantacy.  Thats what I thought when I first heard of Agenda 21.

Just like when I first heard of the New World Order, MKULTRA and Project Paperclip etc….  Thought it was all too far fetched to be of any truth.

Well, if you have heard of the New World Order, then you need to know that Agenda 21 is their Global Policy which is no longer years away from being implemented, as it is only a few years away from its End Game.

The YouTube video link above, will take you to an Australian Politician who is courageously speaking out about Agenda 21.

You can feel the urgency and sadness in her voice as she sighs and speaks out.

I leave you to listen to her speech and then to follow your own investigations, there is much out there re Agenda 21.

Knowledge is power, our current suffering is intentional, but unless we begin to see the wider agenda going on here, then our power and ability to act and do something about it will soon be stripped from us all.  This is not just a UK thing, its Global.

I don’t have the words to explain it all, but I don’t need to, when there are others out there doing a much better job than I could ever do.

Please take a look, ingest and consider how this links in with our own suffering and crisis etc.  We are not alone in this.

Only the truth will enable us to set ourselves free, as Knowledge is Power, and we can disempower those with their dirty and dangerous secrets by exposing them.  This way their power will diminish.

GP practices to work with job centres following £1bn investment

Following on from the news announced yesterday about Job Centres offering Computerised Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to depressed citizens, and the fact that the DWP is about to reel out another of its draconian policies targeted at people in work with Mental Health Difficulties using the company Maximus to take over from GPS with regards to Sick Notes etc. ,,,

The following has been revealed on PULSE Today a website for HealthCare Professionals:

GP practices to work with job centres following £1bn investment

GP practices will be expected to work closely with job centres, social services and other community services in return for the £1bn funding promised to primary care, the health secretary announced today.

Addressing the House of Commons, Jeremy Hunt confirmed that £1bn was to be invested in ‘community and primary care facilities’ over the next four years as part of the Autumn Statement, while £200m was to be used to fund pilots of the new ‘Multispecialty Community Providers (MSPs)’ outlined in NHS England’s Five Year Forward View, which will see GPs employing community service providers as well as hospital consultants.

That money, which is being sourced from £1.1 billion worth of fines slapped on misbehaving banks, will be accompanied by £1.7 billion extra investment from the Treasury into ‘front line services’, said the health secretary.

Mr Hunt also announced that CCGs will soon be able to commission public health services as part of the ‘co-commissioning’ drive, as revealed by Pulse in October.

Chancellor George Osborne yesterday announced on the BBC that the Government was to invest in NHS services, and trailed that GP surgeries were to receive £250m a year over the next four years.

The health secretary confirmed this funding in Parliament, and said that new ‘primary care facilities’ would be expected to join with other, non-health, services such as job centres, although provided little more detail about how this would work.

He said: ‘To deliver world-class community care we need much better physical infrastructure. So today I can announce a £1bn investment fund in community and primary care facilities over the next four years. This will pay for new surgeries and community care facilities in the places where people most want them, near their own homes and families. These new primary care facilities will also be encouraged to join up closely with local job centres, social services and other community services.

Could it be that our valued GPs are now going to be controlled by the DWP!

Much is missing from this report from Pulse as to the details of this new policy but if one also reads the following

https://www.selfhelpservices.org.uk/cms/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/BCP_Cavanagh_et_al-2.pdf

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to put the pieces of the jigsaw together to paint a rather disturbing picture.

GPs are already under fire from the Government who have spent much energy berating them and making them jump through unreasonable hoops, so the 1billion investment could look good to them initially, without the detail etc.

With GPs being run into the ground, or threatening to emigrate, passing the responsibility of assessing the sick to a private corporation, dressed up as a public service, could feel like a weight off their shoulders.

I sincerely hope not.

This could potentially lead to a complete breakdown of Trust between Doctors and their patients.

Allowing DWP policies to control and coerce GPs should be unthinkable?
